About me

My name is Nathan Speck. I am 31 years old. I am a Drill Sergeant in the U.S. Army currently. I have done 2 deployments to Iraq. 15 months to Baghdad for the “Surge”, and a 10 month tour in 2009-2010. I was hit by an IED Memorial Day  2007. I received 10 stitches to my forehead, concussion and TBI. My injuries were minor compared to many, but my scars are mental. I have a wonderful wife Heather and 2 children. They have supported me from the begining. Instead of leaving my wife has researched PTSD and tries to help me though the dark times. Now I feel it is my time to help others. This blog is to help educate people on what it is like to live a life with Combat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Just because you leave the war zone does not mean it ever leaves you. Feel free to comment on my posts. I am considering trying to start a support group and any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. What a wonderful idea! There are so many men and women who have gone through what you have who are struggling. If you can provide hope to even one person you have accomplished a lot! So proud of you!
